Hi Dillavou family - I'm also a "Dillavou". My family lives down in LA, although we lived in Portland (where one of my sisters was born) for about 8 years before coming to southern California. Anyway, just wanted to say hello since there are so few of us --- and since you undoubtedly encounter the same pronunciation problems we do, we at least have that in common. =) Take care
thanks for calling us when you were at disneyland. nice to see your pictures. the kids are all grown up.
born in newhampshire dad from rockwell city Iowa /pease.
just was crusing the net and wanted to say hi!!! p.s....i'm a califirnia dillavou
Hi My name is Julia Mason. I'm originally a Dillavou. I'm from Washington, Iowa. The name Dillavou is a very unusual name and my dad told me that all the Dillavou's are related and i was wondering if this is true. I was wondering if maybe you knew or your parents knew some Dillavou's from here and how we might be related? my grandpa's name was Luther Dillavou and my grandma's name was Dorthy Dillavou. They passed away a few years back. My dad's name is Luther Dillavou. He has 4 sisters one has passed away and he is the only male in that family if that helps you out. I have a brother named Mark Dillavou and he has 2 sons to carry on the name. I thought it would be interesting to find out how we are all related since the name isn't a common one. Thank you for letting me sign in your guest book. Sincerely.....Julia Mason
Am very interested in Dillavou genealogy-Would you be interested in sharing your family names, dates, etc? I am the last one of the Dillavous living in SE Iowa.Delores
Hi, Enjoyed your site. I had to check the tree to see if I had you listed & did. Always interested when I see the name Dillavou. We use to attend alot of Dillavou reunions in Jefferson when I was a kid. My Grandma was Mary E. daughter of James (1825) & Maragret Coon Dillavou... Congratulation on your 50th. My husband & I did that a few years back... I'll bookmark your site. Phyllis D. Hanson
Jerry & Darlene, Happy Holidays! Enjoyed visiting your site. My great-grandmother was a Dillavou from the Scranton-Jefferson, Iowa area. I have a bunch of Dillavou genealogy which I would be happy to share... but I am lacking info on your family... dates, places, etc. Would you be willing to share that data? Thanks! Best regards, Steven Baggs
Hi, Was snooping through the oregontrail.net page, and found your web page. Kellogg, the little town at the base of Silver Mountain ski resort is where Gil grew up. I also have other friends, the Sinclairs who live in Kennewick and have purchased a small house in Kellogg where they stay while skiing. Linda, really enjoyed your web page designs, keep up the good work. Good to "visit" you and your beatiful family! Caroline & Gil Davis
My dad's name is Lary Dillavou and my mom is JoAnn McFarland Dillavou. They are from Austin, MN. Are we related?
I was just web surfing and found your site. My maternal grandmother Sylvia, was a Dillavou. She was born and raised in Weldon Illinois. Her mother died shortly after her birth and her father, Luther C. Dillavou left her with her maternal grandparents and moved to Iowa with his other three children. Their names were Edgar, Estella, and Orne. He remarried and had several other children. I remember my mother saying that one of her Iowa uncles said that everyone named Dillavou was related. I remember visiting my great aunts and uncles in Lockridge, Mt. Pleasant and Ft. Madison Iowa. I'm interesting in family history and would like any information anyone might have, if you think we're related.
hello Dillavou's I am from Waterloo Iowa where most my family lives . just thought I would see how many of us there are on the web. Duane Dillavou
Just browsing and found your site, I am a Ohio Dillavou from Dayton. Grandfather Jerry was from Jay co. Ind. and his father was James Dillavou, if you feel like sharing info please let me know.
heres to u shane
love the web site!!! your boy's picture is spectacular.
I have a lot of info on Dillavou's. If you are interested contact me at the address below. I would like to have info you may have. Am also a descendant of John D. 1790.
There was an error in my add e-mail address. Should have been deerus @iowatelecom.net
I think I am the only Dillavou in Texas. I Come from the Illinois branch and have a fair amount of information. More importantly, I know some one who can give you a complete run down. I really don't want to post email addresses and phone numbers on the internet but If you post a way to get in touch with you I will give you some information. Alternatively if I have your name and town and I would be can give you a call
I don't know if we are related in some way, but I think it is so cool that you have gone to the trouble to put information on the web and market our name as such. I am from the Illinois Dillavou's. Irene and William are my grandparents. They have six children, one of which is my father. I just think that this is one of the coolest things to run into on the web and I wanted to say thanks, whether we are kin or not. Have a great day and please contact me if you need anything from me.
I forgot to say in my other comment that when I was a kid, my father too had someone put together our "family tree." Illinois and Iowa are pretty close together and I wonder if somewhere in that book, your relatives show up...I looked at the site where you said that someone in Iowa had you info and you never received it. Maybe that would be something to look further into. We are now in the Atlanta area and my father is in the north Georgia mountains.
I'm a quarter Dillavou! My grandmother was Fern Dillavou (1911 - 2000) who grew up in the Scranton-Ralston area. Her father was Mahlon Dillavou (1880-1965). I've heard so many stories of the beautiful area she grew up in and the extended family centered in the area. It's great to be able to say 'hi' to family I have yet to meet!

Hi I saw your website and I think it is fantastic. After looking on the internet I really think that we are all related. The names I saw under comments looks familiar. Keep it up. Peace. -New Hampshire-
Stumbled across your site. Theres a guy named Steve Baggs who is doing the family tree, has he contacted you? My Dad (Donald Dillavou) was from Iowa (Rockwell City) his Great Great Grandad came over from France also. Could we be related? its quite its possible. My web site www.projectmessrocks.com I have some family tree history, but its hard to figure out. This guy Steve seems to know everything about The Dillavous.
Yes, Steve Baggs has contacted
us and we updated
his records for our leg of the family. He has put together
our ancestry and I have posted it on our Genealogy

My grandfather was LaVern Dillavou, married to Lois Longshore Dillavou. I'll check back often!

Hi there, I'm the daughter of Dwight and Alice Dillavou (deceased). They were from Waterloo Iowa. Dad was raised in Mount Pleasant Iowa and his Dad's name was Earl Dillavou. His Mom's maiden name was (Mae) White. I'm from Independence now. My aunt Mattie Dillavou has a genealogy book you may be interested in. I don't have a copy myself yet. Have been meaning to get one, but you know how that goes. Well anyway, nice web page. Would love to hear from you. Not sure if the e-mail works, just got it. but you can leave a message at my daughter's too. that is megomae@hotmail.com
Hey everyone! Great web site. There's lots of good info here Linda- Thanks. Heard about the site from my mom Penny Dillavou, married to Max Dillavou both of Lakeview Oregon. It's amazing that there is so many of us and we are all related. Funnier yet to see all the repeated names from the west coast to the east coast! I would love more information to pass on to my daughter, how can I find out more? Thanks again for the great site. Lots of love to all,,, Dawn (Dillavou) Miller

Hi from a South Dakota Dillavou. I married into the family and love my name. My husband was D.O. (initials only), only son of Jess Thomas Dillavou and Valerie Cleo LaPlante who lived in Spearfish, SD. Jess had 2 sisters, Hazel and Edna (Dodds), and one brother Howard Dillavou who lived in California with a son Wayne. Jess' father was Ira Dillavou, deceased before I joined the family. I think he was married to Mary ? My son, also Jess, and I live Eastern S.D. now and I believe there is a family West River. We're the only ones. I too have been contacted by Steven Baggs. Enjoyed the website.
AUNT LINNIE IF U LOVE ME U WILL BUT THIS YEARS PICTURE OF ME ON BECAUSE THOSE R MY TWO WORST PICTURES EVER! SO IF U LOVE ME U WILL PUT THIA YEARS ON!
Hello, My name is Justin Dillavou and I was raised up in Helena, Mt. I was never sure of the history of my family name and always thought my small family was the only Dillavou's in the nation! I wonder how to find out about my own family history as my folks have none to share. I am interested in finding out if I have relatives that I have never met, and would like to share stories and info. Thank you.
hi! i currently live in Dayton, OH and i'm a junior at indiana wesleyan university. i ran across your website and i guess we're related!
Great Grandfather was John Dillavou,Grandmother Was Ethel Dillavou Frease from jefferson and Scranton Iowa. Can any one tell me who Johns father was?
hey i'm a california dillavou... well, rather my mother, Kym Dillavou Thomas, and grandfather, Dean Dillavou are. just wanted to say hello to all the people i am apparently related to!
Thank you for this wonderful gift.
Directed to your site by my sister, Donna Marie Dillavou Trememdous fun. I know Estella (Dillavou) Hennessee had a copy of the family history, most of the early part of which came from a family bible. This was sent to her in an almost illegible form, which she copied but admits to some possible errors. I have one of the originals that she made. Quite old and still has difficult parts to decipher. I would not have immediate access to that as we are displaced from our house due to a fire. Papers will be intact though. Just a thought. Of the three McFarland girls, two, Virgil and Velma, married Dillavous. That is Orne and Edmund. The third daughter is a Tucker. If anyone ever contacts you from the McFarland side (Velma and Edmund had no issue), please send them my way!! I would love more information on that side of my family. I do know this is extremely unlikely, but since the two brothers married the two sisters something might show up. thank you for all the work you and others have put into this. ps ~ the photo you have up looks a great deal like Dale Edmund Dillavou, my eldest brother, who lives in Lexington MA. Our dad was Willis Wayne and his Dad was Orne.
Ethel Dillavou Frease was married to Arbie E. Frease (1889-1975), I believe. He was my third cousin, 2 times removed. I am interested in whether he had any descendants. If anyone knows, please contact me.
This is a neat website and i think its neat that us Dillavou's have our own cemetery. I heard about it but i didn't know for sure if it really existed or not. I would love to learn more about our history.

hey i just thought of what you could do. instead of replacing my old picture with this years you could replace it with me and katie on grandmas couch. remember the one from her funeral. or you could replace it with me and shane (see photo gallery). or you could do both. lol well i just thought i would give you a couple of ideas. love ya all tons. Cassie Nooy
My father was Cleone Clair Dillavou, son of James H.Dillavou of Jefferson, Iowa I have a good bit of genealogical info. which I have accumulated that I would be happy to share. Also, The ground for the Dillavou Cemetary which you have pictured, was given by my greatgrandfather for that purpose as well as the groud for the Friend's Church, which is approximately 1 mile east of the cemetary.

Greetings All, I must make amends to the deceased... about 15 years ago, I visited the gravesites in Seneca, Kansas of John Dillavou (1790-1867) and his 3rd wife, Sarah Johnson-Hughes-Dillavou (1811-1879). Her gravestone was pretty weathered and I mis-read her age, making her 20 years older than she actually was. I find now that she was 21 years younger than John, which makes more sense, since her son married his granddaughter. Her first husband was Denton D. Hughes, a Methodist circuit rider... if anyone's interested. Ahhhh, the fun and challenges of genealogy... always finding new data and updating the older data. If any Dillavou descendants out there are looking for info or have things to add to my ever-growing collection, I'd love hearing from ya! Best regards, Steve

Have been looking for Dale Dillavou with whom I worked at McLean Hosp in the early 70's. I see from a posting by his sister that he is in Massachusetts, etc. When we worked together, Dale used to do this thing with his hand and thumb that totally reduced me to giggles every time he did it. I remember him as being a very nice guy and wanted to say hello!
I just found this site. My aunt, who is not in our bloodline (married to my father's brother), is genealogy fan and she found some of our history of which much is sketchy. My father's mother was Alice Ruth Baggs and I remember her mother's maiden name was Dillavou; I think *her* father's name was John Dillavou. If this was an Iowa family I guess that's not too much of a stretch--my grandmother and father both came from Sioux Falls, SD. It intrigued me that there was another "Baggs" on this site so I don't think it's much of a coincidence. I live in Colorado Springs with my wife and four kids. Greg.
Hello- As you can guess from my name, I am a yet another Dillavou. We are from Illinois. As an interesting side note, I have a twin sister as well! The site is very interesting, thank you for your time and effort
Hello everyone!! My name is Dale Dillavou I'm from the Greene county Dillavous in Iowa. I have many answers for the questions that everyone has asked in this guest book but not much room to answer all of them. My Mother (wife of Russell Dillavou(son of Lloyd Dillavou of Scranton)) and I have done alot of research of the Dillavou name. Also Steven Biggs I beleve we have talked a time or two. Anyway we had about 20 years worth the research and after my Mom passed away on Feb 23 2002 (Jean L. Dillavou) <to update your records> We handed the books and everything over to Bethel Peters (Dillavou) of Arkansa to further research the family and to answer the Main Question everyone always has "We are all related to one another!!" Well you all Take care Ps Im in Texas now and also my Father Russell Dillavou..
After submitting before reveiwing last entry seen a couple mistakes its Steven baggs (sorry) and also the date on My mothers death was Feb,23 2003 sorry
